Mother’s Day speaker

Minister Cathy Neal of Bethel Baptist Church, Gaffney, South Carolina

Minister Cathy Neal will be the guest speaker for the Shady Grove Baptist Church Mother’s Day service at the 11:00 a.m. worship on Sunday, May 8th.

Minister Neal is an Associate of the Bethel Baptist Church under the tutelage of the late Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., and Interim Pastor, Dr. Sander, Jr. She also is a Bible Study instructor, advises the Young Woman’s Auxiliary, is a youth advisor and coordinates the Intercessory Prayer Team. She also is chairperson of the Thickety Mountain Association Spiritual Committee.

Minister Neal is married to Quentin Neal, and they have one son and two grandsons, Donovan and Tristen.

The Deaconess, Trustees’ and Ministers’ wives will coordinate the Mother’s Day service. All mothers will be recognized along with the church’s oldest ‘Mother’ and the ‘Mother’ with the most children present during the morning worship. A Mother’s Day luncheon will be served.

Deaconess Elnora M. Littlejohn is president of the Deaconess Ministry. The Rev. Lee Byers, Jr., is pastor.

Mothers Day 2010

The Shady Grove Baptist Church family celebrated Mothers Day with guest speaker Sis. Juanita Dewberry of Bethel Baptist Church in Gaffney, South Carolina. Morning service was followed by dinner prepared and served by the men of the church, including deacons and trustees.

Father’s Day 2005

The Rev. L. C. Knuckles and Deacon Lucious Jones were honored during the recent 11:00 a.m. Father’s Day Program at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Dewey Whittenburg, Associate Minister of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church was the guest speaker. Rev. Knuckles’ plaque honored him as the “Father of the Church,” the church’s oldest living father. Deacon Jones’ plaque noted his outstanding service as a deacon for 35 years and 23 of those years as Board Chairman.
